FAIR-WEATHER FUN FLY INFORMATION & RULES:

Because this is set up as a FAIR-WEATHER FUN FLY, expect FAIR SKIES , NO FORECASTED RAIN, and LOW WINDS !!!

FAIR-WEATHER FUN FLYS will occur at 🚜 Suman Sarapalli’s Carmel Farm near Perry, KS. Jump to the bottom of this page for a GOOGLE MAP to plan your trip. 🚗
FAIR-WEATHER FUN FLYS will occur on the 3rd Saturday of summer months, 📆 or in the event of bad weather on Saturday, a fall back option of having the event on Sunday will occur if and only if Sunday’s forecast is acceptable.
The term “FAIR-WEATHER FUN FLY” implies that the weather will have a huge impact on whether the event occurs for the month or not.
Because the weather in Kansas is so unpredictable, the Event Organizers (Jb Nisley and Roie Black) will have the final say as to determining the GO or NO-GO decision for the month’s FUN FLY.
On the 3rd Friday morning of these months, the Event Organizers will make a determination of the following Saturday’s weather forecast. If Saturday doesn’t look good, the event will be pushed out a day to Sunday if and only if the weather is acceptable for flying. Ideal target wind speeds are 5 to 8 mph and of course there should be no possibility of rain or lightning in the forecast for the planned event. Because of the geography and layout of Carmel Farm, North or South winds are undesirable, while East or West winds are ideal for our type of free flight aircraft. This factor will also be taken into consideration regarding the event organizer’s GO or NO-GO decision.
HAFFA Members will be informed Friday morning formally via an email📧if the event is a GO or a NO-GO and of course which day it will happen—either on the following day Saturday, or postponed until Sunday. Members can also check the latest STATUS of the event at our MEETINGS & EVENTS Webpage. (Look for the “FUN FLY” event on the right side of the Webpage. 😁)
Start time for the event will officially begin at 9 am but the gate might possibly be open a little sooner. 🙃 Ending time will occur around Dusk. Bring a friend(s), your favorite beverages, and a sack lunch. A hat with a brim and sun screen is also well advised. 😎
Currently only paid HAFFA Members with a valid AMA Membership are allowed to participate at our FAIR-WEATHER HAFFA FUN FLYS, and only free flight rubber powered aircraft and Control Line Models are permitted to fly.
There is a designated mowed area for our control line enthusiasts. 😍 (Please call ahead or check its availability by clicking the Meetings & Events Webpage located above on the Navigation Bar to be sure the area is—or will be properly mowed and suitable for flying aircraft.)
At this point in time, no Radio Controlled (RC) Aircraft of any kind are allowed to fly at our FUN FLY events.😞
