When sanding the wing to an airfoil shape, you really should have a piece of 1/4” thick tempered glass or a 12” by 12” piece of granite tile (both available from Lowes). Or, you can get away with using a 3/4” thick melamine coated particle board shelf, which you can also get at Lowes for around $12 for an 11” by 97” size shelf, which, if you ask them very politely, they will cut into smaller pieces at no extra charge. If you glue 1/4” to 3/8” thick balsa wood to one side of the shelving material, you will have a nice flat building board.
